Mitochondrial-encoded peptide

MOTS-c 10 mg

1 vial · lyophilized · ≥99% purity target

VitaForge Labs MOTS-c 10 mg carton and sealed lyophilized vial on a grey stone surface

What it is

MOTS-c (mitochondrial open reading frame of the 12S rRNA-c) is a 16–amino-acid peptide encoded in the mitochondrial genome rather than the nuclear genome. It is studied as a mitochondrial-derived signal that can move between cellular compartments and influence metabolic gene programs.

Research focus

The literature places MOTS-c in metabolic homeostasis, AMPK-linked energy sensing, skeletal-muscle stress responses and age-related physical capacity in animal models. Landmark papers include Lee et al., Cell Metabolism 2015 (metabolic homeostasis; diet-induced obesity models in mice) and Reynolds et al., Nature Communications 2021 (exercise-inducible expression in humans; performance and healthspan-related findings in mice). These are research territories, not results a visitor should expect.
